#TuitsAOjo: comunicarse con la mirada. This is a collaborative project between Fundación ONCE, Twitter, and Irishbond.

The ONCE Foundation, Irishbond and Twitter have set forward the #TuitsAOjo project, through which people with a high degree of reduced mobility can use the social platform to communicate with others.

This is Santi’s case, a young boy from Granada with cerebral paralysis but with an avid desire to live and who is passionate about soccer, tennis and music; specially NACH, a popular rapper. Their collaboration started when he decided to send him a twit using #TuitsAOjo; this is how #TuitsAOjo was born.

This is a project based in technology from Irishbond and has the support of the ONCE Foundation and Twitter. The common objectives are based in the disruptive innovation, universal accessibility, scalability with a universal impact and the transferability to other devices.

The Valle-Inclán theatre in Madrid has housed the #TuitsAOjo presentation; a project narrated through the story of Santi, and NACH, the person who creates accessible technology for all.

Some attendees of the presentation of this project were: José Luis Martínez Donoso, general director of the ONCE Foundation; Emilio Pila, director of Brand Strategy for Twitter in Spain; Eduardo Jáuregui, Irishbond CEO; Jesús Hernández, director of universal accessibility and innovation for the ONCE Foundation, and Juan José González Lopez-Huerta, CEO for I love Helping. Also present, Patricia Sanz and Teresa Palahí, vice-president of the General Council and secretary general for ONCE Foundation respectively.

With them, Santi himself and NACH, both who shared their moving and inspirational experience.

Santi began ‘twitting with his eyes’ and a while back contacted one of his favorite musicians: NACH; his was the beginning of a close friendship with a great surprise at the end. A videoclip in which NACH sings a song he personally wrote for Santi was showcased at the Valle-Inclán theatre in Madrid. NACH shared with everyone that because he had sister who also suffered from cerebral paralysis, he ‘felt emotionally involved with the project’.

A helping hand for your eyes

When our mobility finds itself limited by our physical circumstances, technology and other related services can help us out. Our interaction with our surroundings is key when trying to keep a comfortable and healthy life. It is through our senses that our body allows the brain to evaluate and decide from what we can benefit the most at any given time.

Aira is a service of guides developed for people who suffer from blindness or other visual conditions. Aira creates a real time link with people who guide its users when these are confronted to new settings and specific situations. This service is planned so that even your loved ones can help you.

Aided by the most current technology and through Smart Glasses and portable cameras, this new company based in San Diego, presents itself as a real alternative to allow those  who love you be your eyes and navigate the world.

Inclusive Art.

Willingness and creativity, in combination with technology, are an unstoppable mix; they never cease to surprise us. In a setting in which change is the only constant, so is that there are endless possibilities. Without a doubt, it is our attitude that allows us to find growth and  change in every situation and moreover, transform adversity into change.  JC, body art specialist, in partnership with visual artist JL Gozal, has developed a specialized prothesis designed specifically to create tattoos. The articulated arm allows to work even better than with a ‘human’ hand. The team is currently collaborating in creating a more practical version.
